The Portuguese American Federation, Inc
held a ceremony on Sunday, July 1, 2001 at  the Portuguese Discovery Monument at Brenton Point State Part in Newport, RI on Ocean Drive

The ceremony included the laying of a wreath in memory of the Portuguese Explorers and their efforts which led to the discovery of the New World.

The Vasco de Gama Holy Ghost Society of Newport
 sponsed its annual Portuguese Cultural Festival at Touro Park which is the site of the  historic Old Stone Mill on Bellevue Avenue on July 1, 2001

It was a delightful day with friends and family in beautiful Newport celebrating the rich Portuguese heritage.
