The Portuguese American Federation, Inc.
held a ceremony on Sunday, July 7, 2002
at 11:00 am at the Portuguese Discovery Monument
at Brenton Point State Park in Newport, RI
on Oceon Drive

The ceremony included the laying of a wreath
in memory of the Portuguese Explorers
and their efforts which led to the discovery
of the New World

The Vasco da Gama Holy Ghost Society of Newport
sponsored its annual Portuguese Cultural Festival
which featured Portuguese food and entertainment at
Touro Park on Bellevue Avenue at the site of the
historic Old Stone Mill.

It was a delightful day with friends and family in
beautiful Newport while celebrating our rich Portuguese heritage.
